VIDEO: Nisha avoids early marriage

Last year we spoke to Nisha, from a lower caste family in the Siraha district of Nepal, before the start of a project helping teenagers transform their communities and develop more resilient livelihoods.

A year on, Nisha has updated us about how the project has already helped her avoid early marriage and kept alive her dreams of gaining the skills to start her own business.

However, we know there is still more work to do. Nisha also told us that one of her friends has been unable to avoid early marriage, which shows how big a task it is to change deeply embedded social practices such as this.

The three-year Project Asha is being delivered by Group of Helping Hands (SAHAS) Nepal, thanks to funding from the Guernsey Overseas Aid & Development Commission.
