16 Jan Nepal plane crash: call for prayer
Following the Yeti Airways plane crash in Nepal yesterday (Sunday 15th January), please join us in praying for all those affected by this tragedy. A day of national mourning has been declared for today by the Government of Nepal.
We have received updates from our two Pokhara-based partners, INF Nepal and Asal Chhimekee Nepal (ACN, which is the social action arm of the Pokhara Christian Community), including information that we are sharing with INF supporters in the UK.
The plane crashed in the Seti river gorge near INF Nepal’s Green Pastures Hospital. Fifteen members of INF’s Disaster & Medical Response Team were mobilised and first two injured passengers were carried to the Western Regional Hospital by INF’s ambulance, but unfortunately they could not survive. INF’s team also supported the Government Rescue Team with logistics, medical and other essential support throughout the day. The rescue work continues to search for the remaining bodies.
Raju Adhikari, Executive Director of ACN, has told us that three of the victims were from Nadipur Church, which is part of the Pokhara Christian Community network.
Please pray for the bereaved families and friends and those involved in the recovery operation. May God Almighty console the victims’ families and grant them peace.
Thank you for standing with the people of Nepal in this hour of grief.
