04 Jun A message from our new Chief Executive
We are delighted that Matthew Hanning has joined INF UK as our new Chief Executive.
Over the past couple of weeks, Matthew has been starting to get to know colleagues and trustees in the UK, as well as connecting with our partners in Nepal ahead of visiting the country. He has also been working through an effective handover with John Reynolds, who is stepping down after 28 years in post.
Here is an introductory message from Matthew:
“It is great to have now started with INF UK, and I am excited for all we can do together to bring fullness of life for the most disadvantaged Nepalis.
“My heart for people in Nepal is inspired by Jesus’ example of reaching people who have been pushed to the margins of society, as we follow in His footsteps and work together with them for a hope-filled future.
“I am honoured to be picking up the baton of leading INF UK from John, and also aware that I am following in the footsteps of many others who have played significant roles in INF’s story over the past seven decades.
“My initial focus is primarily to spend time listening and absorbing, as I learn more about Nepal and the great work being done by our partners. I look forward to my visits to Nepal, including trips already planned for August and November, and starting to develop relationships rooted in our Christian values and a shared purpose of serving disadvantaged Nepalis.
“Over the coming months I will be prayerfully discerning, along with others, as we seek to follow God’s path for the next stage of INF’s journey.
“I have been able to visit Nepal a couple of times through my previous work with CBM, a charity focused on global disability inclusion, including visiting various rural districts a couple of years ago.
“My experience at CBM has relevance to some of our partners’ work serving marginalised people and communities in Nepal, and I look forward to learning much more about the country – as well as starting to learn the language – in the months and years ahead.”
You can read more about Matthew and his background in an article for the recent edition of Today in Nepal, including how to pray in this initial stage of his time with INF UK.
Matthew is looking forward to getting to know INF supporters, including at an online event on Saturday 14th June from 9:30am to 11am.
