Light shines in the darkness for Amrita

Amrita found help from INF in her darkest hour. In July 2024, a powerful landslide swept through her home village outside Pokhara, destroying her house while she and her children were asleep. The disaster claimed the lives of her two daughters and her nephew. Amrita herself sustained severe injuries, including a broken leg and a spinal cord injury, leaving her unable to move.

Amrita with her husband Raj

Amrita’s husband, Raj, was working in India as a security guard to support his family when he received the heart-breaking news. He rushed back to Nepal, devastated by the loss of his children and with his injured wife admitted to INF’s Green Pastures Hospital. The stress and grief weighed heavily on them, while the burden of paying for Amrita’s medical care seemed insurmountable.

Reflecting on the situation, Raj expressed his sorrow: “I went to India to earn money for my daughters’ education. They were my only treasure. Still, I have hope to save my wife. I will not return to work immediately as I need to take care of her.”

The family’s economic situation is hard, making it nearly impossible for them to afford the cost of Amrita’s treatment and hospital stay.

But in this moment of despair, the generosity of INF supporters like you changed their story. Thanks to the Medical Charity Fund, Amrita’s treatment was fully funded, and she is now on the path to full recovery with INF’s support through this time of unimaginable grief.

Her rehabilitation is ongoing, and soon she will be able to regain mobility with the help of a wheelchair. This will not only give Amrita her independence but also allow Raj to return to work and support their family again.
