Dinesh blows into the device

Dinesh finds his voice again

Dinesh is a retired Nepali trekking guide who has spent much of his life adventuring through the Himalayas.

Sadly, a few weeks ago, he was in a serious road traffic accident that left him paralysed. His spinal cord injury also weakened his chest muscles, so that Dinesh has found it difficult to take deep breaths, cough, or speak loudly.

For an outgoing, friendly man like Dinesh, being able to chat with his family and friends is essential. He found the help he needed after being transferred to INF’s Green Pastures Hospital.

Innovative technology gives Dinesh hopeDinesh smiles with the 3D printed device

The hospital’s comprehensive rehabilitation service includes speech therapy specialists who are helping Dinesh find his voice again.

A 3D-printed Respiratory Muscle Strength Trainer is strengthening his chest muscles. Your support for our Christmas Appeal can help more patients access innovative rehab technologies like this device at Green Pastures.

Day by day, Dinesh can take deeper breaths and speak more loudly and clearly. He is a motivated patient, working hard at his rehabilitation.

Even though Dinesh won’t be able to walk again, the ability to talk and connect with his loved ones will make a huge difference to his quality of life and his ability to move forwards from the accident.

The Green Pastures staff and his family and friends are alongside Dinesh as he recovers his voice and learns to navigate life in a new way, using a wheelchair. Whatever challenges he faces, with INF’s support he won’t be alone.
